The Palanche de la Creta
~ Wednesday, 28th December 2011The spell of good Christmas weather continues, so Graham Frost and I went out for a morning blast yesterday, prior to an afternoon of skiing with the kids.
We headed to the Palanche de la Creta, which is a lovely, easy angled peak, accessed from the Val d' Herens road. Things soon became warm, due to its easterly aspect, but after a couple of hours we were at the top. The valley just north of the peak get little sun at this time of the year, so we headed into that, finding a balanced mix of windblown and lighter snow. The ever changing conditions maintained interest all the way down, and by we reached La Giette the snow was quite soft, so it was time to head for the road and back to the car.
Great skiing, wonderful visibility and even more fresh promised according to meteo suisse!!!
